A Beautiful Cottage Garden & Missing Shoes

I met with Laura, her mum sister and bridesmaids at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Laughton where she was in the middle of her hair and makeup. Expecting their first child, Laura was positively glowing and was so excited about the day. The flowers arrived and the beautiful cottage flower bouquets matched the stunning cottage garden. It was a very calm and collected morning with a little shoe drama, Laura’s sister had worn her new shoes to her prom the night before and had mistakenly picked up the wrong pair. I think rose gold shoes must be the must-have shoe as from her reports there were quite a few! I have to say she handled the drama very well and no-one would ever have known her shoes were at least one size too large for her, I don’t think I saw her take them off for the duration of the wedding.

Laura looks absolutely stunning in her wedding dress and we had plenty of time for photographs in the cottage garden before her father arrived to take her to church.

Photographs At Lubenham Church

If you are a local wedding photographer you may be surprised at the above title! This was a lovely wedding for me as it was the first time I have been permitted to take photographs of the ceremony at Lubenham church. With all weddings it is up to the clergy or registrar whether any photography is permitted during the ceremony and this of course, has to be respected. Lubenham church has always had a very strict no photography policy, except for my bride walking down the aisle and then returning after the ceremony. With a new vicar I had a lovely chat with him before the ceremony and he was more than happy for me to capture the ceremony so it was an added bonus for Laura and Michael.

The Great Cake Bake-Off

After the ceremony it was off to Foxton Village Hall for wedding breakfast and garden games. Because of Laura’s love of cake, all the guests had been asked to bring along a cake to compete in a great bake-off competition, every cake was given a number and guests were asked to sample and vote on their favourite. There was no formal wedding breakfast but high-tea, sandwiches and of course cake! Foxton village hall was decked out in true country fair style with bunting, cottage garden flowers and and sandwiches on tiered plates, it looked absolutely stunning! The speeches were really funny, I think Michael was a little horrified when Laura’s father reunited Laura with an old child-hood favourite toy!

Garden Games & Cake Tasting

It was a perfect, sunny and warm afternoon and there were plenty of garden games for children and family. While parents and children had a go at making giant bubbles, Limbo and guests voted on their favourite cake. I voted for no. 3, the chocolate brownie! It was a very lovely relaxed wedding with the least requested group shots. I had a very bizarre experience and had a fan from my old video editing days. Apparently the guest had studied music videos as part of his dissertation and a few of the music videos I edited were some of his favourites, I have never had a fan before so there you are, my one and only fan.. bonkers.

It was a beautiful, happy wedding and I met some really lovely people. I left with everyone dancing, playing garden games and eating cake, the BBQ was just being fired up. I think it was exactly the wedding Laura and Michael had planned.
