A Summer Marquee Wedding | Katherine + Chris

Wheat fields and Tractors | Marquee Wedding

Louisa and Kens wedding was another hot summers day. I met with Louisa at her home as she got ready for her day. Considering the weather the previous week it was looking to be a pretty hot and dry day. Louisa had her three bridesmaids getting ready with her and her mum. I set off for the church in good time to capture Ken waiting with his Best Man and Groomsmen. Louisa arrived fashionably late to the church (blame a difficult tie) but did arrive much to Kens relief!

It was a wonderful church ceremony and it all went without a hiccup. The wedding party then all set off to a family farm where a marquee awaited with fizz and canapés. Because of the wet weather the few days before the wedding, they had organised a walkway of wooden pallets to save walking in the farm mud… it was a lovely moment to see Louisa and entourage stepping carefully along the wooden planks to get to the marquee!

The food was provided by Emmerson and Wests so was of course amazing. I was invited to dine at one of the tables so I have a missing guest to thank for the full wedding breakfast and great company over my break! I learnt a lot about bike racing and drunken trips to Ireland.. (I think it was Ireland).

Back to work for the speeches and as they finished I noticed the sun was heading into golden hour so I took the opportunity to take Louisa and Kenton into the farms wheat field for their portraits. The farmer brought an old tractor from the farm for more photographs so we were thoroughly spoilt for photo opportunities. We had a laugh stomping around the field and I photographed guests against the bright summer backdrop.

The evening kicked off with the cake cut and a lovely first dance after which I disappeared, back over the field and the wooden pallets!

A very memorable wedding with some great photographs. Your East Midlands Wedding Magazine often ask me for images to support their editorials and September’s issue ran a feature on ‘woodlands weddings’ I sent them a few that I thought they may use and was thrilled to see Louisa and Kentons wheat filed photographed used along with a lakeside photograph from Sam and Matts wedding the previous year.  An added bonus for Louisa and Kenton!
