Delicious Wedding Cake!

I was going to write a serious blog on photographing the wedding speeches and was looking through my archive of photographs and I found myself hooked on all my photographs of wedding cakes. I thought how much more interesting to write a blog on one of the things that changes at every wedding. I don’t think I photographed one single cake that was the same as another in all the 25 weddings I photographed last year!

Every cake unique, some made and designed by relatives, ‘naked cakes’ three tier cakes, two tier cakes, cupcakes… endless designs and creations. In this blog I thought I could help a few brides-to-be with some ideas for that central, most important wedding essential, the perfect cake!

How To Choose Your Cake:

What good is a blog without a contribution from a professional in the field. I asked popular baker Melody Milverton of Melody’s Cakes for a little bit of input into her cake making business and what advice she gives to her clients on choosing the right cake. She has provided cakes for many of my wedding clients.

“When it comes to your wedding cake think about the style and theme of your wedding and of course the venue.  Growing ever popular are the rustic, naked and semi-naked cakes that look great in barns and country house’s or if your reception is in a grand hotel maybe a more traditional iced design would be your choice.

In past years wedding cakes were always traditional fruit cakes but now any flavours are possible, from vanilla sponge to chocolate and even carrot cake you can have every tier different so that your guests have a choice, but beware as people who love cake (let’s face it who doesn’t) will have a piece of each!

I love to sit down with couples and find out about their wedding and individual style and design a cake that is unique and perfect for them over a cup of tea……and cake of course!

Shown above are just a few of Melody’s creations (not my photographs)

If you want to find out more about Melody’s service you can contact her HERE. And of course if you are looking for a Wedding Photographer Leicester or the surrounding areas just drop me a message.

So that’s it for me, now I need to go and find some cake..!
